Here is what I have been working on the last couple of days of summer school.
As everyone else is casting and am not, so a have lot of free time.

Well thats my third week of sculpting over. Most the class are going to be casting next week, but me and few overs are going to spend the week on another project.
I think I'm going to do a quick portrait and the rest of the time drawing or take it easy.

Here is my figure piece I have been working on in the mornings .
She is my first I have taken my time over. I know there are a few proportion mistakes I would have liked to tighten up but time was against us. In the normal year the students spend 5 week on a figure and get it looking mint. I have learnt so much over the course, lots of really crazy deep stuff thats beyond proportion and gesture. I just hope I can learn to apply it to my work.

Just thought I would try and get in to the routine of posting more.

I know they are bad but its a start, I'm really rusty.

35 degrees and rising

So thats me been in Florence for a week, Its been an interesting trip so far, meeting all the different people on the course and getting settle in to the routine of the school.
The hardest thing so far has been dealing with the heat. I landed in the middle of a heat wave here in italy, 35 degree plus. Being a Scotsman am not use to anything above 5 , so I have had no energy at all.

Here some shots of the studio, as you can see there is not air con or fans because of the dust.
The studio is full of past students work ,which is totally inspiring.
This week we started a skull study which we will use for a portrait study next week and a 3 week figure study.I'll post some shots later next week when she starts looking more human.

This last piece is my favorite sculpture I have seen yet it called the "vincenzo gemito il pecalore"
well thats what it said on the plate. Its was nice to see something a bit different rather than dudes in robes you know .
